Wedding Day Emergency Kit Must Haves

From a Wedding Photographer Who Has Seen It All!

There’s something about a wedding day… no matter how perfectly it’s planned, little things will pop up.

A loose button. A lipstick smudge. A headache right before walking down the aisle.

And while none of these moments define your day, having the right items on hand can turn a potential stressor into a quick fix that no one even remembers.

As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen it all. And over time, I’ve built (and relied on) a wedding day emergency kit more times than I can count. Whether you’re a bride, a bridesmaid, or the planner of the group, this is the list you’ll want saved.

The Essentials You’ll Be So Glad You Packed

Beauty + Touch-Up Musts

  • Lipstick or gloss for reapplication

  • Translucent powder or blotting papers

  • Setting spray

  • Mini hairspray

  • Bobby pins (more than you think you need)

  • Hair ties

  • A small comb or brush

  • Curling and/or straightening iron (humidity happens!)

These are the items that keep you feeling fresh and confident all day long, especially after hugs, happy tears, and time on the dance floor.

Wardrobe Fixers

  • Safety pins (multiple sizes)

  • Fashion tape

  • A mini sewing kit

  • Stain remover pen

  • Lint roller

Bustles break. Straps shift. Dresses pick up everything. These little tools are lifesavers in the moment and can save your timeline from unnecessary delays.

Health + Comfort Items

  • Pain relievers (like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen)

  • Band-aids

  • Blister patches

  • Tissues

  • Deodorant

  • Hand sanitizer

Weddings are long days. Staying comfortable makes a bigger difference than most people expect.

Snack + Hydration Support

  • Water bottles

  • Electrolyte packets

  • Easy snacks (granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks)

This one is huge. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen nerves + a busy morning = not eating enough. Keeping your energy up is key to actually enjoying your day.

The “Just In Case” Extras

  • Phone charger

  • Portable fan (especially for summer weddings)

  • Umbrella

  • Static spray

  • Clear nail polish (great for stopping a nail or even a stocking run)

You might not need these… but if you do, you’ll feel like an absolute genius for having them.

A Photographer’s Honest Take

Here’s the truth. The couples who have the smoothest, most relaxed wedding days aren’t the ones without problems. They’re the ones who are prepared for them.

Having an emergency kit doesn’t mean you’re expecting things to go wrong. It just means you’ve created space to handle anything quickly and move right back into the joy of the day.

And trust me, that peace of mind shows up in your photos.
