Tucked into the woods, Woodland Glasshaus blends striking glass architecture with the beauty of its natural surroundings. Two separate glasshouses create distinct spaces for the ceremony, reception, and dancing, while the courtyard between them becomes a beautiful gathering place beneath the trees. With walls of glass, incredible natural light, and an outdoor courtyard centered around a statement fireplace, the entire property gives a wedding day room to unfold while still feeling connected from beginning to end.

With two glasshouses, the open-air courtyard, and wooded surroundings, there’s so much variety without ever having to leave the property. A Photographer’s Tips for Your Wedding at Woodland Glasshaus at Bavaria Downs:
✓ Take advantage of the entire property for portraits. Between the glasshouses, courtyard, gardens, and surrounding nature, there’s incredible variety without ever needing to leave the venue.
✓ Plan most of your portraits before the ceremony. With everything happening in one location, a first look and pre-ceremony portraits can give you more time to enjoy the courtyard and cocktail hour with your guests.
✓ Don’t worry about a rainy wedding day. The glasshouses give us beautiful natural light and plenty of photography options indoors, even when Minnesota weather doesn’t cooperate.
✓ Leave a little room in your timeline for sunset portraits. The trees surrounding the property affect when we’ll lose the best light, so I recommend planning these a little earlier than the listed sunset time.
✓ Use the courtyard! The fireplace, light stone, landscaping, and surrounding woods make it one of my favorite areas for portraits, cocktail hour candids, and those in-between moments with your guests.
✓ Let each part of the venue feel different. Moving from the ceremony glasshouse to the reception glasshouse and back for dancing naturally gives your wedding day distinct looks without needing multiple locations.
✓ After dark, the glasshouses completely transform. Once the sun goes down and the reception lighting comes on, the space has an entirely different feel, so make sure your photography coverage extends far enough into the evening to capture it.

Woodland Glasshaus is a seasonal Minnesota wedding venue, open May through October each year. Both glass structures are air-conditioned, although temperatures inside can rise with direct sun exposure or especially warm outdoor temperatures.

Wedding rentals include tables and luxury ceremony and reception chairs, along with a selection of decor such as centerpieces, votives, a ceremony arch, card box, easel, and lawn games. D'Amico Hospitality provides catering and bar service as well as place settings, glassware, and cocktail tables. Because packages and inclusions can change, I always recommend confirming current details directly with the venue.

Ceremonies take place in the Ceremony Atrium before guests move outside for cocktail hour. Dinner is held in the separate Dining Atrium, and later everyone returns to the Ceremony Atrium when it transforms into the dance space for the evening.

For me, it’s the combination of modern architecture and the natural setting. The floor-to-ceiling glass brings the surrounding woods into both spaces, while the courtyard gives you a completely different look without ever leaving the property. From a photography perspective, I love having glass, greenery, the light stone fireplace, trees and prairie lands (entrance) all within steps of each other.
