A Photographer’s Tips for Your Wedding at Catalyst Nature Link:

✓ The getting-ready room with the best light is the main suite with the large windows. (The grooms suite also has amazing light!)

✓ A first look works beautifully overlooking (or near) the lake.

✓ Beautiful spaces for family photos, but if you have rain, indoors by the ceremony fire place is just as beautiful.

✓ Guests cannot see you during portraits. If your ceremony is outdoors amongst the pines, you have space behind the main building in the courtyard overlooking the lake. If it’s indoors, you have space amongst the pines.

✓ Sunset is typically about 30–45 minutes earlier, as it dips below the trees.

✓ There are great rain options, including the indoor ceremony space and covered areas.

✓ I usually recommend doing most portraits before the ceremony so you can enjoy cocktail hour, as it has a beautiful layout and setting.

✓ The reception space has beautiful lighting, and I always bring a little extra lighting just in case.

  • Catalyst can accommodate weddings of up to 225 guests, giving you plenty of room for a larger celebration while still keeping everyone together in one beautiful space.

  • Yes! One of the biggest perks of getting married here is having lodging right on the property. Nature Link currently offers 21 cabins and four hotel rooms, with options ranging from one-bedroom cabins to larger residences that can sleep 10–12 guests. Your favorite people can stay close without everyone having to head to separate hotels at the end of the night.

  • Catalyst includes several helpful venue features, including two getting-ready suites, indoor and outdoor ceremony options, reception tables and chairs, and three ceremony arch options. They also have built-in spaces like the Lakeside Patio, Atrium and indoor event areas that give you plenty of flexibility throughout the day. Because inclusions can change, I always recommend confirming the current details directly with the Catalyst team while you're planning.

  • Catalyst is located right at Nature Link Resort on Clark Lake, just a few miles from downtown Nisswa and within the greater Brainerd Lakes Area. The Paul Bunyan Trail runs right by the property and leads directly into downtown Nisswa, making it a really convenient location while still feeling tucked away in the pines.

  • For me, it's the combination of modern design and actual Minnesota scenery. You get the clean architecture and beautiful light inside, but step outdoors and you're surrounded by pines, Clark Lake and 14 wooded acres. Add on-site lodging, indoor and outdoor ceremony options, and everything being right there on the property, and it gives you a lot of variety without spending your wedding day driving from one location to another.
