Extended Family Photos
a Little Chaos, and a Whole Lot of Love
There’s something extra fun about getting to photograph people who have been part of your life before they were ever in front of your camera.
Cait and Dan were our neighbors years ago, so when Cait reached out about photographing her entire family, I was so excited to see them again. And this time, she was bringing everybody. Her brother and his family, her parents, and five kids between them.
So yes, there was a little chaos. 😂
But honestly? That’s exactly what I loved about this session.
We had one hour to photograph the whole family, each individual family, siblings, cousins, grandparents and grandkids, and all the combinations in between. We got the beautiful everyone-looking-at-the-camera photos, but we also made room for the moments that felt a little more like them.
Kids running. Brothers being brothers. Cousins laughing together. Grandma and Grandpa getting completely swallowed up in a giant grandkid hug.
And those are always the photos that get me.
Because someday these five kids won’t be these ages anymore. They’ll grow up, schedules will get busier, and getting everyone together in one place will probably become even harder than it already is.
But for one summer evening, everyone was there.
And we have the pictures to prove it. 🤍
