Hello there...I’m Leah
If you read the bio on the front page, and you’re still interested in more…. you’ve come to the right spot. Here’s the cliff notes version:
Before I became a photographer, I sold insurance. How? Why? Nobody knows! It’s totally not in my personality to be a salesperson!
Do I have kids? Nope! The running joke is that “I like my time and I like my money!” LOL. But the truth? My husband was overseas for 11 years, right after we got married. So it made it tough to start a family. As the years went on, we really liked the life we were building and didn’t feel we needed to have kids.
My love story in a nutshell: We met on E-Harmony back in 2003. After a few months of talking, he came to visit my mom and I in Minnesota (he was stationed in Florida) for 2 weeks over Christmas. I then went to visit him in March, he came back up in April and proposed (funny story on that one, ask me about it sometime!), and we were married in July of 2004.
I have 2 adorable dogs. Nilla Bean is a 16 year old Shiba Inu who was a professional model for 12.5 years. She now enjoys quiet days of laying around and being lazy. And in 2020 we adopted a rescue dog, Kona Bean. She is part pit bull, redbone coonhound, and bloodhound. These two are complete opposites of one another and Kona really keeps us on our toes with her sassy personality.
I work for Crossfire volleyball club in Champlin, where I coach elite athletes from November-June. I am also their recruiting coordinator, and help girls continue to play in college.
My cancer journey: If you follow me on social media, I’m sure you’ve seen a post or two about me having cancer. It’s true… but let me start with telling you I’m all good and cancer free! Hallelujah! I’m just glad that I grew up as an athlete and I know my body and listened to it. I’m not someone who goes to the doctor, and so I hadn’t been to one in 16 years. (I always said if I didn’t feel right, I’d go…and so I did.) I went in thinking maybe my thyroid was off or something. Well, it was! I also have high blood pressure. However, they also discovered a little bit of cervical cancer. I ended up having a hysterectomy on my husbands 50th birthday, no radiation or chemo needed, and I’m good to go. God is so good!
My free time hobbies: I love home remodeling projects, walks with my dogs, going to the movies, traveling, farmers markets, and being around people that bring joy to my life and make me laugh.
